Homelessness is increasing year on year. Since 2014, the number of people recorded as homeless in Ireland has increased by 189%. As of September 2017, 8374 People in Ireland are currently experiencing Homelessness, with an approximate 46.5% being 24 years of age and younger.The Peter McVerry Trust is a charity set up in 1989 by Fr Peter McVerry to reduce homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage. It's vision is for an Ireland that supports all those on the margins and upholds their rights to full inclusion in society and provides prevention services, housing & homeless services, under 18’s residential services. Peter McVerry Trust is asking for your support this Christmas to help raise vital funds to tackle the housing and homelessness crisis in Ireland.Here is how you can help this ChristmasOn Saturday the 9th of December 2017 at 7:30pm the Peter McVerry Trust Christmas Carol Concert will take place in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. Performers will include, The Boys of The Palestrina Choir, Eileen Coyle and The Island of Ireland Peace Choir and you can book your tickets here.You can show your support by purchasing some of the Peter McVerry Trusts’ wide range of Christmas Cards this year. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the charity.
