10 X 10 Team Building Fun at Celtic Careers – Puzzle Time
When you think of the word game, the traditional kind that comes to mind is the humble puzzle. The origins of jigsaw puzzles go back to the 1760s when European mapmakers pasted maps onto wood and cut them into small pieces. John Spilsbury was an engraver and mapmaker and is credited with inventing the first jigsaw puzzle in 1767. This week we decided to go back to basics and play a traditional puzzle building game.Puzzles are renowned for sharpening the brain. Scientists have, in recent years, argued that brain-training exercises, such as completing puzzles or learning another language, can reduce the risk of developing dementia. Puzzles have also shown to increase IQ levels, increase productivity, improve cognitive ability and improve concentration. This was a simple game to set up and the competitive edge came out in everyone. We found that very organised and focussed individuals came out on top for this. Those who shall not be named!
